I thought I should let everyone know what's been happening on the ECharts, E4SS and Converge fronts of late. There may not have been much happening here on the front page of echarts.org but if you've taken a look at our svn activity you'll see that we've been busy working towards our next release which should ready by mid-summer. What's in store you may ask? Some big enhancements are on the way.

  • ECharts will support dynamically bound state machines. This means you can take an existing submachine from one active state and bind it to the submachine of another state.
  • E4SS will support distributable apps, meaning that E4SS will work in a clustered deployment where SIP servlet sessions are persisted.
  • Converge will be updated to work with the latest version of Grails (currently v1.3)

I also wanted to let you know that we recently released an ECharts/E4SS Eclipse plugin. But don't get too excited because it doesn't currently work. This plugin was developed about 4 years ago by one developer but he had to move onto to other projects and wasn't able to maintain it. It didn't take long before the plugin broke as a result of the ECharts grammar changing and changes to E4SS. But, on the off chance that someone out there is interested in bringing the plugin back to life, it's now available as open source and can be downloaded from svn.

Finally, the development team will be attending IPTComm 2010 in Munich in early August so if you're in the neighborhood, let us know and we'll try to meet up.
